In 1978, we began organizing and advocating for gender equity and justice with $2 memberships from across Maine. Join us now as we continue this essential work: donations from Mainers like you help us analyze and propose policy solutions, and bring women's voices to the Maine Statehouse to get results. Our advocacy focuses on:
Promoting economic justice and solutions that help all Mainers, such as universal paid family and medical leave, access to quality childcare and workforce supports, and a fair and livable wage for all.
Ending gender-based discrimination and violence, including support for the Equal Rights Amendment and equal protection under the Maine Human Rights Act, and support for expanded violence prevention and healing, and trauma-informed care.
Protecting and enhancing the health - including reproductive health - of all Mainers, centering those who have been excluded from current systems, including trans women, Black and brown women, indigenous women, incarcerated and formerly incarcerated women, women in recovery, women in low-wage roles, and traditionally uncompensated care roles often filled by femmes.
Supporting systems that reduce the harmful effects of racism and misogyny.
