Our advocacy focuses on:
Promoting economic justice and solutions that help all Mainers, such as universal paid family and medical leave, access to quality childcare and workforce supports, and a fair and livable wage for all.
Ending gender-based discrimination and violence, including support for the Equal Rights Amendment and equal protection under the Maine Human Rights Act, and support for expanded violence prevention and healing, and trauma-informed care.
Protecting and enhancing the health - including reproductive health - of all Mainers, centering those who have been excluded from current systems, including trans women, Black and brown women, indigenous women, incarcerated and formerly incarcerated women, women in recovery, women in low-wage roles, and traditionally uncompensated care roles often filled by femmes.
Supporting systems that reduce the harmful effects of racism and misogyny.
The Maine Women’s Lobby promotes public policy which increases the health, wellness, safety, and economic security of female-identified Mainers, with a focus on the most marginalized populations and communities.
The MWL does this through local, state, and federal public policy advocacy which centers the experiences and voices of those most affected or harmed by misogyny and oppression.
