Take Action to Protect Abortion Rights in Maine
Republicans in the Maine Senate have voted to establish fetal personhood in Maine—granting a fetus “heirs and an estate”. That means LD 327 will now return to the House for a second vote. It was only defeated in the House before by one vote so we need to make sure that EVERY Representative understands what’s at stake when it returns to the House.
Please take a few minutes right now to contact your Representative and urge them to vote NO on LD 327 when it returns to the Maine House.

Maine already has strong protections for women if a tragic act of violence or negligence causes them to lose a pregnancy. LD 327 is just a backdoor attempt to make it harder for women to maintain control over their own bodies by creating confusion in Maine law.
This is part of a national effort by anti-abortion advocates to chip away at abortion rights by passing personhood legislation. The purpose is to create confusion in Maine law, which already has clear protections for pregnant women. LD 327 would open the door to wrongful death lawsuits against abortion providers performing a legal medical procedure. It’s nearly identical to a bill introduced in 2013 as part of a package of bills to restrict access to safe and legal abortion. We defeated it then and we need to stand together to defeat it now.
Please contact your Representative today to urge them to vote no on LD 327. It’s important that we make sure ALL our Representatives know that this bill is dangerous and unnecessary. Go to https://act.myngp.com/Forms/-8462977782005757952 to take action.
