It’s vital that women’s voices are heard this Election Day—November 8, 2016. By voting, we will decide who shapes the policies that affect our lives, who makes decisions in our courts, and which ballot questions become law.
That’s why we’re taking a pledge to make a difference this November. We pledge to vote and to urge our family, friends, and community to vote, too. Join us!
This election year, I will do more than just show up to vote. I will use my voice and my power to fight for a comprehensive economic agenda that spells real change on all the issues that are important to me and my family. I won’t wait for real change any longer.
I pledge to do all I can to ensure that voter turnout from my community reaches record highs this year. I am more than “the women’s vote”, and the issues that affect me—from caregiving to racial justice, from reproductive health to higher wages—also matter to millions of people across this country.
Sign the pledge at bit.ly/Pledge2Vote16.
Together we will make sure our voices are heard on Election Day!
Thank Senator King for Supporting the Healthy Families Act
Sometimes we all need time to get well or to care for a sick child. But when many Mainers get sick, they can’t afford to take a day off because they can’t earn even one paid sick day. Nearly 40% of all workers in America lack access to paid sick days. When you look at low-wage workers, the numbers are even worse: more than 80% of low-wage workers can’t earn a single paid sick day. These workers are disproportionately women, and they are often employed in fields that come into frequent contact with the general public—such as child and elder care, food service, and retail.
The Healthy Families Act would help change that by creating a national paid sick days standard. Senator King is now a cosponsor of this important legislation. You can thank Senator King for becoming a cosponsor by calling 202-224-5344.
